Maybe it isn't a completely rational fear, but then that's the case with most any fear or phobia.
So how can you get over your fear of visiting a doctor? After all, even the healthiest person needs to visit them every now and then...
1. Work out when your fear first began. Maybe it was a childhood visit, maybe it was because a loved one had a problem that a doctor failed to cure. Whatever the cause, see if you can work out when your fear began. That way you can start working on it. Most times, our fears are actually pretty cowardly. And as soon as you start to close in on your fear, there's a good chance it will run away and leave you alone.
2. Find a phobia-friendly doctor. Like dentists (who a lot of people are also afraid of), some doctors handle patients who are afraid of them better than others. Ask around until you find a doctor who knows this is a real fear and who will work with you to overcome it or at least reduce it. Maybe they'll let you visit with a friend, maybe they've got extra staff on hand. It may even be as simple as your doctor not wearing the usual white coat!
3. Find a local support group. This may be a group that addresses various fears, rather than focusing solely on people who are afraid of doctors, but you should be able to find a support group to help.
4. If your fear is more to do with needles or other things that your doctor may use whilst examining you, recognize that fear instead. The m
